Pinterest Fun

I will admit it, I am a Pinterest follower. If you have no idea what I am talking about, just Google it! A wealth of ideas and things to look at.

As the Christmas decorating commenced in my house (a tad bit earlier than usual) this year, I found myself catching the creative bug again. So, I put together a few diy projects. (actually there are more than these ones but I forgot to take pictures)

First off, I made these great snow vases. They took maybe 30 mins (that included the drying time). Here is how I did them:

1 picked up the vases at a local thrift store for under a $ a piece. Sprayed them with the cheapest white spray paint I could find (WalMart $2.87) and let them dry. When they were dry (about 5 mins) I sprayed them with spray adhesive (Home Depot $5) and then rolled them in Epsom salts (WalMart $3). I added a few Christmas sprigs that I had picked up someone (can't remember where) and set them on a silver tray I picked up for $.50 at the thrift store. I have tons of adhesive and Epsom salts left for other projects in the future.

We have A LOT of teachers to buy for this year. In Mr K's class there are 7 and Miss P has two teachers plus ballet and piano teachers. So to keep the cost down, we made our gifts this year. Body Scrubs and Lip Gloss.

We made a Cranberry Sugar Scrub (olive oil, sugar and cranberry essence oil) and a Brown Sugar Scrub (brown sugar, olive oil and gingerbread essence oil). Put them in containers I found at the $ Store (2 for $1.25) and added cute tags to them

The lip gloss was equally as simple. Melt Vaseline in the microwave and stir in kool-aid. Pour into containers (I bought pill containers (Wal Mart 6 for $2) and topped them with a homemade label I made cut with a circle cutter and attached with the spray adhesive.

Everything was packaged in clear cello bags with ribbon. I thought they turned out pretty nicely.
