It’s been a whirlwind few days. If I am to be honest, it has been completely surreal and a bit like a fairy tale.
Let me back track a bit. The day Kurtis and I got married, I told him that although he would be the only one I ever married; this would not be our last wedding celebration. We have talked for years about getting re-married on the beach. We talked about almost seriously when we hit our 10 year anniversary, but with all that was going on at that time, it got shoved to the bottom of the pile of priorities.
The other morning we took a snorkel and whale watching trip with the family. Although it was a great trip, I got a bit seasick for about 30 minutes. Once things calmed down, I went to sit outside at the front of the boat, just to feel the sun on my skin and the breeze on my face. Kurt came out and joined me. Sitting beside me a conversation started and went something like this:
K – So, would you want to marry me again?
C- Sure, I would.
K- How about 3:00 tomorrow in the afternoon on the beach?
C – (not thinking he is serious) Sure!
K – OK, I have it all planned.
C – Really? Are you serious? (Totally stunned)
K – Yes, I am serious! We are renewing our vows tomorrow at 3pm, I have it all planned.
Here is the only pictures we have of the event (they were through a window inside the boat), certainly not the most flattering since I had just been snorkeling and was in my wet bathing suit, but none the less, it is documented (thanks Mom!)
After this point, I must have asked him 10 times if he was really serious. I could not believe that he had it all organized and was able to keep the plan from me for all these months. My parents were let in on the plan a month back, and they were going to watch the kids for the night, after the vow renewal so that we could go stay in a hotel up island; a second honeymoon of sorts.
I was in complete shock! I think it took about 6 hours for it all to soak in. After the cruise had finished, we went straight to the mall to look for a dress. In just over an hour we had found a fantastic dress. Kurt actually found and picked it out – boy did he do well! The dress made me feel like a million bucks!
